KENTUCKY SAFE SCHOOLS WEEK DAY ONE: START WITH SAFETY This is day one of Kentucky Safe Schools Week. The theme is “Level Up.” The goal is to raise awareness about various aspects of school safety and empower students, teachers, parents, and the community to take proactive measures to create safe learning environments for students across the Commonwealth. At Wurtland Middle School, we pledge to “Level Up” by starting with safety, being cyber guardians, being prepared, and teaming up with kindness. Please show your support and take the online pledge that will be shared this week! Did you know that Wurtland Middle School utilizes the Owning Up curriculum through weekly lessons? This curriculum presents a unique and comprehensive approach to preventing youth violence by targeting the root causes of bullying and other forms of social cruelty. It exposes the cultural expectations that teach young people to humiliate and dehumanize others as the way to achieve power and respect, then challenges them to transform this dynamic.
