A LITTLE DISNEY MAGIC
Today, we brought a little Disney magic to Wurtland Middle School. Thanks to the Pastry Princess, every student and faculty member was treated to a Dole Whip! 🍍🍍

EdRISING
EdRising students had two wonderful days of working in the library at Wurtland Elementary School. All students, tall and small, enjoyed meeting new friends and working together on a library scavenger hunt. We're jumping into an amazing year of collaboration!

BAND
Seventh and eighth-grade band is learning new music to share with the community at Old Fashion Days on October 5 at 1:00 p.m. We can’t wait to share our music with everyone!

INSTRUMENT RENTAL NIGHT IS TONIGHT!

EIGHTH-GRADE ELA
Students in the classes of Mrs. Brumfield just finished real-world e-mail etiquette lessons and practice last week. They corrected sample student e-mails that did not pass the etiquette rules that were established. It became a lesson in language and the non-verbal tone that can come across in the words we use and in e-mails. Students then sent an actual e-mail to Mrs. Brumfield with specific messages that met etiquette expectations. What a neat learning opportunity!

SEVENTH-GRADE STEM
Seventh-grade STEM students in the classes of Miruka Williams conducted an AI-driven virtual orchestra to learn more about how artificial intelligence collects data and responds to it. How cool is this?!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Melissa Travis shares that Amy Hieneman is a superstar! From addressing schedule changes to individual student needs, Ms. Travis shares that Mrs. Hieneman does so with the patience of a saint!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Vanover shares that Hailey is most deserving of Wildcat of the Week. Throughout the past two weeks, Hailey has gone the extra mile to help students in the hallways, even showing them to their correct classrooms. Way to be a leader, Hailey!

IMPORTANT UPDATE
This afternoon (9.8.23), school administration received reports of possible threats being made on the school's campus. After thorough questioning, administrators learned that the individual in question was not present on the school's campus at the time the report was received. All proper safety protocols are being closely followed and cautionary preventative measures are in place. There is no threat at this time; however, as an extra safety precaution, district law enforcement will be on the Wurtland Middle School campus on Monday.

SIXTH-GRADE MATHEMATICS
Students in Mrs. Vanover's sixth-grade mathematics class spent time working on adding and subtracting numbers with decimals today. Students had stations and were tasked with creating lunches for the entire week with a budget of $20.00. Each station got a little more difficult as the prices got higher. We love to see our Wildcats having fun while learning!

SEVENTH-GRADE SCIENCE
Students in Mr. Bowling's seventh-grade science classes have been reviewing how the spacing of atoms determines if a substance is a solid, liquid, or gas and the effects of thermal energy on atom spacing.
Wow! How interesting and engaging!
