THE DINNER TABLE PROJECT!
In collaboration with Pathways, The Dinner Table Project, and Kentucky Purple Star Schools we would like to offer our McKell Families a Dinner Table Project Phone Box!
Please let us know if you would like one!
They can be picked up in the front office or sent home with your student.
What is the Dinner Table Project?
The Dinner Table Project was created by Four Rivers Behavioral Health Regional Prevention Center in 2015 with the basic idea that families that eat together, have better relationships. If children have better relationships with their parents and siblings, they are less likely to try drugs and alcohol. Then we found out that the children of families that share meals together also have better academic performance, higher self-esteem, a greater sense of resilience, lower risk of teen pregnancy, lower risk of depression, lower rates of obesity, and a lower likelihood of developing an eating disorder! We also wanted to incorporate the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets that young people need to succeed. Through the years, The Dinner Table Project has changed but the core has stayed the same. We encourage families to eat together at least once a week with no electronics!

Thank you to Antioch Christian Church-Greenup, KY and Foggy Mornin’ Farms Greenup, KY they each donated a Thanksgiving meal for two more families at MMS!
Join us for our annual Veterans Day Celebration and also celebrate our recognition as a Purple Star School! We would be honored to have you attend our event.
The Annual McKell Middle Veterans Day program will be held November 10 at 9am. Breakfast for our vets will be served starting at 8am. During this ceremony there will be a Special Presentation by Pathways with news we have been ready to release for weeks! We can't wait to see you

On Friday we had our annual pink out day. In both honor and remembrance of those who have experienced breast cancer our students and staff created an awareness ribbon. We also celebrated our kitchen worker Barb who is a survivor. Thank you AEP- Kentucky Power for helping take the picture again!
Our first play of the year kicks off Monday October 30th at 9:00am and the second show at 10:00am. Parents are welcomed to attend.
