FESTIVAL OF TREES AND TRAINS
On Friday, we had the opportunity to take our entire school to the Festival of Trees and Trains that is traditionally hosted by the Paramount Arts Center. Should you notice a pink, Barbie-themed tree, our EdRising students worked hard on this year's entry. We were also able to treat our students to some time at Central Park. We are most appreciative of our friends at the Paramount Arts Center and Lloyd Church of the Nazarene who helped make our day THE BEST before break. Also, we owe a special note of thanks to Nancy Hieneman for helping us to organize the logistics of our day. We had so much fun before heading home for the holiday break. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Wildcats!

BEDBUGS: A WURTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAMA PERFORMANCE
Yesterday, our drama students finally delivered their first performance of the year, "Bedbugs". It was filled with fun and received rave reviews! Great job, everyone!

WE'RE HAVING A (KA)HOOT!
What a rollercoaster ride! Eighth-grade reading classes experienced all the emotions during a folklore Kahoot! review game. We're having all the fun while learning at Wurtland Middle School!

IT'S ALMOST THANKSGIVING!
Yesterday's holiday meal was phenomenal! No matter the challenge with which they are faced, our cafeteria staff always surpasses expectations. Thank you, ladies, for making yesterday's lunch with love! We appreciate you! ❤️

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOFTBALL INFORMATION

LET'S TALK TURKEY...
... and figurative language, and word parts, and, most importantly, fun! Students in seventh-grade ELA have been busy working in centers this week, and they are ENGAGED!

WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Brumfield shares that Brandon has been working hard to improve his vocabulary scores in English. He aced last week's test and won several rounds of Quizlet. That's the Wildcat Way, Brandon!

READER OF THE WEEK
Mr. Bowling shares that William is a "reading machine"! He always has a book to read any time there is a spare moment in class. Keep up the great work, William!
READERS ARE LEADERS AT WURTLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL!

COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Mrs. Long shares that Mr. Blevins is deserving of this week's Colleague Credit because, whenever asked, he always jumps at the opportunity to help another staff member or student. The drama program is very appreciative of him for always painting the backdrops for its performances. He also visited the drama class this semester and taught special effects makeup to students. He is a great asset here at WMS!

EDRISING
EdRising students worked to make ornaments and staging pieces for our tree that is displayed at the Festival of Trees.
Be sure to visit the Festival of Trees and Trains at the Paramount Arts Center to see the finished product!

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER SERIES
Last week, Wurtland Middle School students were featured in the National Geographic Explorer Series. Students asked a shark expert and an underwater marine biologist questions about their professions and equipment.

CATS' (CHRISTMAS) CREATIONS
Rylan Troxler is ready to feed the reindeer this holiday season! Check out this adorable tray designed and produced by students in our Cats' Creations class.

INDUSTRIAL ARTS
Our Industrial Arts students have been busy working on recent orders: a pantry with doors, two bookcases, three tilting trashcans, and a bench. Thank you to all who have ordered and for helping to support our Industrial Arts program!

LETTUCE REAP THE HARVEST
Today, our agriculture students reaped the first harvest of lettuce from our new grow tower. Wow! Is it just us, or is that lettuce beautiful?!

A LITTLE COLLABORATION GOES A LONG WAY
Last week, our agriculture students spent time cleaning 100 pumpkins for our friends at Dragonfly Outdoor Adventures. These pumpkins were used as pumpkin bisque bowls during this past weekend's Wizardfest. All of the leftovers are being donated to a local bird preserve. We're always happy to help our community partners.

HOSPITALITY and TOURISM
The student-led cooking series is continuing in Mrs. Shannon's class. Dylan Cantrell gave everyone a taste of a "down home family favorite" with his cornbread. It was delicious!

INDUSTRIAL ARTS SALE
Our industrial arts students have two small tilting trashcans ($80.00) and one large can ($100.00) available. If interested, please contact Mr. Bowling. Thank you!
