SIXTH-GRADE ELA
Today, students in the classes of Ms. Scott completed a question trail covering types of conflict. Each time they answered a question, it led them to another one on the trail until they finished every question. This was such a fun and engaging activity!





WRITER OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Brumfield shares that Dakota has worked very hard in English throughout the past week. Students have been studying language topics; he has worked very hard to learn the difference between active and passive voice sentences. Way to go, Dakota!


READER OF THE WEEK
Mr. Bowling shares that Annie is currently reading "Who is Walt Disney?" In addition, she always has an Accelerated Reader book and is reading with any down time she has throughout the day.

COLLEAGUE CREDIT
Mrs. Brumfield shares that Mrs. Daniels recently wrote a grant to gift a WMS student with a new guitar. Like always, Mrs. Daniels gives 110 percent for her students. Thank you for all you do for GC students, Mrs. Daniels!


WILDCAT OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Brumfield shares that Braydon recently worked hard to make sure he completed all of his makeup work for English after several days of absences. He also helped other students understand the assignments when many were out in his class.


HAT DAY
Every Tuesday throughout the remainder of the school year will be hat day. The cost of wearing a hat will be $1.00. Please make plans now to participate!


GUITARS FOR KIDS
Each year, an organization called Guitars for Kids partners with RS Guitarworks of Winchester, Kentucky to bring a well-deserving child a new guitar. The only requirement is for the student to have a love of music and benefit from this gift.
This year, Gabe Brown received a brand new Yamaha acoustic guitar. He was so excited and overwhelmed! Gabe is a student in both band and orchestra and plans to continue his musical endeavor throughout high school. Congratulations!




ANNUAL HOMECOMING DANCE
From decorating to a costume competition and a night filled with 80s tunes, our annual homecoming dance was a fun evening for everyone! THINGS were certainly STRANGER than they had been in years past!





STRANGER THINGS COLORING CONTEST
We would like to congratulate Curtis, Hailey, and Kelsie as the winners of our Stranger Things coloring contest! We also want to congratulate Xavier Marshall (not pictured) for creating the best Stranger Things-inspired demogorgon!


VALENTINE'S DAY FUNDRAISER
Do you want to send a special treat to your sweetheart? Or maybe just a good friend? Wurtland Middle School eighth-grade students are selling these cute and cuddly sweet treats to raise money for their end-of year luau.
Items included in the gift bag are a stuffed animal (items will vary), candy, and a Valentine's Day fortune cookie. The cost? Only $5.00! Students may send them to other students and/or teachers to be delivered on Valentine's Day. Parents, you may also stop by our main office if you would like to purchase one to be delivered to your student.

REQUEST FOR IDENTIFICATION
Good evening, everyone! When arriving at Wurtland Middle School to pick-up your son/daughter at any point during the school day, please make sure that you present a valid form of identification to members of our staff in the main office. This is not to cause anyone any extra undue stress at any point. Instead, however, it is to make certain that all members of our student body, along with our entire school building, remain safe and secure at all times. Recently, we have noticed several individuals questioning this procedure; however, the presentation of a valid form of identification is required.
As always, we are happy to address any questions and/or concerns and will continue to work in the best interests of all of our students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders!

NEW YEAR, CHAPTER ONE


PEP RALLY
Yesterday, our students had the STRANGEST pep rally! Filled with 80s dancing, waffle tossing, waffle eating, and much more, Mrs. Vanover, Ms. Young, and Ms. Carter worked hard to create an amazing afternoon for our students!





2023 HOMECOMING COURT
We would like to congratulate all members of our 2023 homecoming court! Last night, eighth-grade students Andrew Martin and Emma Hale were crowned king and queen!
